About the Books!
This is a historical fiction giveaway and not a historical romance giveaway, although most of the titles include some level of romance.
About The Shenandoah Road

John Russell’s heart aches from the loss of his wife, but the Shenandoah Valley frontiersman needs to marry again for his daughter’s sake. At first he believes he has found the right young woman, despite their differences, but his faith falters when time reveals she isn’t quite what she seemed. Can he truly love her?
Unlike her disgraced sister, Abigail Williams obeys the Commandments. At least, she thinks herself a Christian until a buckskin-clad newcomer courts her. He treats her kindly but also introduces her to a sermon by the controversial preacher, George Whitefield. Her self-righteousness is shattered, and she wonders about their relationship. If she confesses her lack of faith, will John continue to love her?
About An Uncommon Woman

Unflinching and plainspoken, Tessa Swan is not your typical 18th-century woman. Born and bred on the western Virginia frontier along with her five brothers, she is a force to be reckoned with.
Quiet and courageous, Clay Tygart is not your typical 18th-century man. Raised by Lenape Indians, he returns a hero from the French and Indian War to the fort that bears his name, bringing with him Tessa’s long-lost friend, Keturah, a redeemed Indian captive like himself.
Determined to avoid any romantic entanglements as fort commander, Clay remains aloof whenever he encounters the lovely Tessa. But when she is taken captive by the tribe Clay left, his hand–and heart–are forced, leading to one very private and one very public reckoning.
Intense, evocative, and laced with intricate historical details that bring the past to life, An Uncommon Woman will transport you to the picturesque and dangerous western Virginia mountains of 1770.
About Many Sparrows

Either she and her children would emerge from that wilderness together, or none of them would…
In 1774, the Ohio-Kentucky frontier pulses with rising tension and brutal conflicts as Colonists push westward and encroach upon Native American territories. The young Inglesby family is making the perilous journey west when an accident sends Philip back to Redstone Fort for help, forcing him to leave his pregnant wife Clare and their four-year old son Jacob on a remote mountain trail.
When Philip does not return and Jacob disappears from the wagon under the cover of darkness, Clare awakens the next morning to find herself utterly alone, in labor and wondering how she can to recover her son…especially when her second child is moments away from being born.
Clare will face the greatest fight of her life, as she struggles to reclaim her son from the Shawnee Indians now holding him captive. But with the battle lines sharply drawn, Jacob’s life might not be the only one at stake. When frontiersman Jeremiah Ring comes to her aid, can the stranger convince Clare that recovering her son will require the very thing her anguished heart is unwilling to do—be still, wait and let God fight this battle for them?
About Preacher on the Run

STANDING FOR TRUTH COULD COST HIM HIS FREEDOM.
FIGHTING FOR FREEDOM COULD COST HIM HIS LIFE.
It’s 1771, and North Carolina is at war. On one side stands the power of the Crown. On the other side stands a dangerous freedom of conscience.
Former circuit rider Robert Boothe has spent the last four years leading the tyrant-hating Regulators against North Carolina’s corrupt British government. All he wants is a safe place for his little Baptist church to worship God.
But when Colonel Charles Drake arrives in town, Robert becomes a target. The Church of England wants him to shut up. The governor wants him dead.
Now Robert’s church and family are caught in the crossfire. And that safe place is farther and farther away.
Have you read any of these? What’s your favorite patriotic read? What time period in America’s history intrigues you most? How will you celebrate Independence Day?

That Lori Benton book is absolutely amazing. I just finished it this week, and I was mildly freaking out over how good it was. Would definitely recommend! And of course, Jayna’s book is such a lovely read, too – so much biblical truth and amazing characters. An Uncommon Woman was also a pretty chill read, from what I remember … it’s been awhile. I haven’t read the other book, but I hope I can sometime. 🙂
Thanks so much for sharing!!

Oooo, you did? I need to read it now!!! The only one of these I’ve read is An Uncommon Woman, and I really enjoyed that – I’ve gotta read the rest, though! Preacher on the Run is definitely on my TBR. 😉 (And I always perk up when I hear something about Shenendoah, because I absolutely LOVE the old-timey movie by that name. It’s so good. 😭)
Thank you for reading, Vanessa! 😀 ❤
