On Valentine’s Day of this year, Tell Me You Love Me anthology officially released into the world, and now, six months later, it’s time to celebrate with nothing less than an epic giveaway!
It’s been such an honor to be a part of this lovely anthology, and I want to thank you again for all the support and love you’ve given it!
When I first got my author copy, I reread all the stories except for mine, because I was too scared that I’d find a million things I wished I could’ve changed about it. Sometimes ignorance is bliss. 😅
Then, a few months later, I flipped to the back of the anthology and read To Be Loved aloud to myself in a dramatic undertone. And I realized that, in spite of all the things that make me cringe, in spite of all the sentences I wish I could’ve reworded, in spite of all the elements that could have been made more unique and fresh…I still meant every word I wrote in the story.
That’s really the best way to describe it. I meant what I wrote.

And I’m content with it, which is really the best I could hope for. I still love the characters, the story, the message.
So, that’s a word of encouragement to authors out there who have just published something and won’t touch it for fear of catching errors and cringe-worthy passages and an unintentional overload of cheese.
Worse things have been written, worse things have been loved by readers. And your story is not as bad as you think. You’ll learn to love it again. ❤ Or at least think of it fondly. 😉

Fun fact: my contribution to the grand prize forced me to come up with a last name for poor Evangeline. 😆 (So now it’s Evangeline Gatesmoore. Well, her maiden name, anyway. 😏) That’s the exciting and dangerous thing about short stories – there’s always so much more backstory and so many details that you can discover even a year after writing it!
How long does it take you to reread your story after publication? How do you get over that fear? Do you also adore stuffed animals? Are you excited to enter the giveaway? Have you ever won a giveaway before? (Like Peter said in Prince Caspian, there’s always a first time. I mean, he was definitely not referring to giveaways…but the sentiment remains.)

Ahhh Saraina, that is the cutest picture with the stuffed animal!! I haven’t been published, but I feel like I would be nervous to read my work too. I’m so glad that you are still happy with it, I am sure it is absolutely AMAZING!! I entered the giveaway, before remembering that I had already ordered a copy of Tell Me You Love Me *fp* Oh well lol! I actually won the Springtime in Surrey scavenger hunt giveaway (the first time I have ever won)! I honestly still can’t believe it XD I was literally screaming when I got the email! Happy six-months-published-iversary!
