Deceived Blog Tour: Character Interview with Rogan

Another fun DECEIVED character interview today, this time with Madisyn Carlin’s favorite character, Rogan!! Ah, I love this guy – and his answers through the lovely author were very interesting. Without further ado, enjoy reading this interview! 😉

How would you describe yourself?

I am loyal, relentless, and focused. Some have described me as grumpy and stubborn. They’re probably correct.

Do you feel like an introvert or extrovert?

I am an introvert. People are irritating and, in general, nuisances. I can think of only a few who don’t annoy  me.

What’s your middle name, if you have one?

My parents did not deem it necessary to give me a middle name.

How would you describe your childhood?

My childhood was regimented and strict. I was being trained for the king’s guard since I was young, so much of my youth was spent learning the importance of protecting the king and how to use the sword. I was able to, on occasion, slip away with my friend and explore the woods, but those times were uncommon.

What is your biggest personality strength?

My biggest personality strength is my loyalty.

What do you most value in your friends?

I value most the ability to differentiate between right and wrong.

What is your most treasured memory?

My most treasured memory is earning my first dagger. I’ve always wanted to be a captain, and I need to earn five daggers in order to qualify, so that first dagger was a momentous occasion. That’s when I knew I had it in me to earn the other four. It also provided hope that I could one day be free of my father.

What is your worst memory so far?

My worst memory is when my father began to turn physically violent.

Which person do you clash most with and why?

I clash most with my father. His only quality trait is his ability with the sword. That is the only good thing about him. There are more than a few reasons why I don’t get along with him. Our personalities collide, he’s a monster, and he allows his jealousy of the captain who trained me to cause uncountable problems.

What’s your pet peeve?

I have many pet peeves. The greatest is disloyalty.

What do you perceive as your biggest weakness?

Probably my inability to “go with the flow”. I like structure too much sometimes and that can cause me to be unable to adequately handle when plans unexpectedly change.

What person do you feel most responsible for and why?

I am most responsible for my friend, Holder. We’ve known each other since we were babies, and even then I was looking out for him. He has good intentions, he really does, but he is a disaster. Always causing some manner of havoc or getting himself in trouble. I’ve had to rescue him more times than I can count.

Who do you trust with your deepest secrets?

People are untrustworthy. Holder knows some of my secrets, but not all.

  1. *gasp* IT’S… IT’S MAY THE FOURTH????? I can’t believe I totally forgot about this!! I ALWAYS remember May the fourth!!! (Lol, I know this is slightly off topic but you just reminded me of it. XD So thank you for that.)

    Anyways I LOVED THIS POST!!! Character interviews are always so fun, and the more I hear about this Rogan dude, the more I’m certain I’m gonna ADORE him when I read the book!!! I love that he’s a loyal character, those are always my favorite!!!! And his relationship with his father is just so sad. *sniffs* THANK YOU for sharing this post, Saraina!!!!

  5. Great interview, Saraina! I always love reading your questions. You also made your intro rhyme 😉

    I relate to wanting structure in life (being flexible is something I’m working on.) Also, I didn’t know there was a #Roganfanclub and #Holderfanclub *gasp* *realizes I must now know more about said characters* Which club would you be a part of?

    Oh right, I completely forgot! May the Fourth Be With You! Lol. I can’t wait to check out the video your brothers did 🙂

  6. Okay, I’m going to show my sister later, but I just finished watching your brothers’ video and it was hilarious! Please tell them that I enjoyed it (seriously they slipped a Princess Bride reference in a Star Wars video?? Dude, that’s genius.)

    Though, I do wonder what happened to the cat now… XD

        1. Haha me too! For about two years, maybe? That’s how long they’ve been more serious about it, I should say. 😀 My older brother especially has a lot of plans, so I don’t think it’ll be any short-lived obsession XD

    Poor Rogan. Sounds like he needs to lighten up. He will miss out on so much if he doesn’t!! :C
